FAQ

Good to know

What is the difference between general physiotherapy and sports physiotherapy?

While both aim to restore function and reduce pain, sports physiotherapy at The Physio Studio is tailored for athletes and active individuals - from elite competitors to weekend warriors. We diagnose and treat injuries with an understanding of the demands of your sport and build a plan to get you back safely. This can include biomechanical assessment, testing on our VALD digital force decks and hand-held dynamometry, and working with your coach, S&C team or trainer on load management as you recover.

How can physiotherapy help with chronic back and neck pain?

Our approach goes beyond temporary relief. We perform a detailed assessment to understand the contributing causes of your pain, then combine education about your pain, hands-on treatment, targeted exercises and guidance on posture, movement and load management. Working towards improvements in function is key to your capacity and quality of life, and our goal is to help you manage your condition long-term and get back to living with less pain and limitation.

Is clinical Pilates suitable for someone with a recent injury?

Yes. Unlike general Pilates, our Clinical Pilates sessions are supervised by a qualified physiotherapist, with a customised program designed to be safe and appropriate for your specific injury. The exercises focus on core strength, stability and movement control - important for rehabilitation and reducing the risk of re-injury.

What does a typical orthopaedic rehabilitation session involve?

Sessions focus on your specific surgical procedure and recovery goals. We begin by discussing your progress and any concerns and talking through your surgeon's protocol, then combine hands-on therapy to restore joint and tissue mobility with tailored exercises to regain strength and function. You'll receive a clear at-home exercise plan - including digital programs sent straight to your phone - adjusted as you progress.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our clinic policy requires 24 hours notice for cancellations otherwise a late cancellation fee may apply.

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist in Adelaide?

No - you don't need a referral for a private physiotherapy appointment. Simply book online or give us a call. However, if you're claiming through WorkCover, a Motor Vehicle Accident or a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, a doctor's referral is required. We're a registered provider for all private health funds with on-the-spot claims, and a registered NDIS provider.
