Exercise Rehabilitation

Individualised, progressive exercise is the core of lasting recovery — building the strength, control and confidence to return to what you love.

Written & reviewed by Steve O'Donnell · Physiotherapist

What it is

Exercise rehabilitation is a tailored program of movement and strengthening designed around your injury, your body and your goals. It is the most evidence-based part of physiotherapy care and the part that creates lasting change.

How we use it

After assessment, your physiotherapist builds a program that starts where you are and progresses as you improve. We adjust it at each visit, and can use objective strength testing to track your progress and guide the next step.

Benefits

  • Builds strength, control and resilience
  • Reduces the likelihood of recurrence
  • Restores confidence in movement
  • Progresses you safely back to work, sport or daily life

What to expect

  • A program matched to your stage of recovery
  • Clear demonstration of each exercise
  • A manageable number of exercises you can fit into your day
  • Regular review and progression as you improve

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many exercises will I have to do?

As few as possible to get results. We would rather you do two or three exercises well than a long list you cannot keep up with.

How long before I notice a difference?

It varies with the condition, but many people notice change within a few weeks of consistent effort. Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic timeframe for your situation.
