What can I expect from my Clinical Pilates Exercise Program?
A personalised program for your needs
At The Physio Studio, our highly trained sports physiotherapists are qualified in using a range of exercises including strength training, the clinical Pilates method, and balance and flexibility training, and will establish a program specifically for you. Following a thorough initial assessment, we develop your program over a series of 1:1 sessions.
Once you have completed your sessions and feel confident with your program, you can take part in our Studio Equipment classes. Those who are comfortable with their routine may also choose to become a casual studio member, gaining access to the equipment outside scheduled classes.
Inside Our Pilates Studio
In our well-equipped, climate-controlled Pilates studio, we run EQUIP Pilates classes, offering a variety of supervised sessions each week. Clients can also choose personalised 1:1 sessions with our physiotherapists for tailored support.
Our sessions incorporate a variety of equipment, including Pilates reformers, chi balls, trapeze tables, and balance balls, ensuring a workout that is both engaging and effective. The added resistance from the equipment supports a full-body workout while focusing on core stability. Whether you’re managing back or neck discomfort, dealing with other aches or pains, or looking to enhance your core strength, Pilates—through group classes or private sessions—could be the ideal way to support your fitness goals.
Meet Our Certified Pilates Instructors
Led by physiotherapists with extensive training in sports physiotherapy and Pilates, our Clinical Pilates program is guided by professionals with certifications in DMA Pilates and additional training from the KX Academy, ensuring a well-informed and thorough approach.
The DMA method is considered the gold standard for clinical Pilates for physiotherapists. This Pilates model is unique in that it aims to understand the problems behind the symptoms that many people come to Pilates classes to try to address. Our director, physiotherapist Sean Bushby, is a level 4 DMA Pilates physiotherapist, while fellow The Physio Studio physiotherapist Scott Palmer holds a level 1 DMA Pilates certification. Our team of 6 experienced and knowledgeable physios at The Physio Studio can’t wait to meet you and get started on your Pilates journey!
Explore Our Pilates Classes
Each class is guided by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable physiotherapists, ensuring personalised attention with a limit of 6 participants per session.
EQUIP (Reformer Pilates)
We call our reformer Pilates classes EQUIP because they help equip you build balance, movement, and endurance. These studio equipment clinical Pilates sessions feature Pilates reformers alongside other tools like chi balls. If you’re looking to master Pilates exercises using a reformer, EQUIP is the perfect choice.
Vital
Your core plays a key role in movement, but not every Pilates session requires a reformer! Our Vital classes focus on mat-based exercises performed on the floor, demonstrating that equipment isn’t essential for a great workout. These sessions are designed to build core strength, endurance, and posture.
Pregnancy Pilates
Prenatal exercise can be incorporated into our studio equipment classes. Our physiotherapists provide personalised recommendations based on your health, pregnancy stage, and experience level. Contact us for further details. Additionally, our floor-based Vital Pilates classes may be a suitable choice throughout pregnancy.
Frequently Asked Questions About Clinical Pilates
Yes, we offer different payment options, including discounted term passes.
While Clinical Pilates and Reformer Pilates share similarities, they differ in purpose and approach. Clinical Pilates is guided by trained professionals and focuses on individual needs, rehabilitation, and improving function.
Reformer Pilates is a type of Pilates exercise using specialised equipment. This form of Pilates targets strength, flexibility, and stability, and is generally used for general fitness rather than clinical rehabilitation.
How often you do clinical Pilates is ultimately up to you, however we generally suggest starting with one to two sessions per week. This suggestion may differ for you depending on factors such as your fitness level, any existing injuries or conditions, and so on. As you progress and develop strength, balance, and flexibility, you may wish to change how frequently you do clinical Pilates as well.
