The Physio Studio: Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between general physiotherapy and sports physiotherapy? While both aim to restore function and reduce pain, sports physiotherapy at The Physio Studio is tailored specifically for athletes and active individuals. We work with a wide range of athletes, from elite to weekend warriors. We focus on diagnosing and treating injuries with an understanding of the demands of your sport, and developing a rehabilitation plan that gets you back to your sport safely and quickly. This includes advanced techniques to improve performance and prevent future injuries, including biomechanical assessment, testing on our VALD digital force decks and using hand held dynamometry. It will also often involve us working with your coach, S&C team or trainer to assist in load management planning as you progress through your recovery.
2. How can physiotherapy help with chronic back and neck pain?
Chronic back and neck pain can be debilitating. At The Physio Studio, our approach goes beyond temporary relief. We perform a detailed assessment to identify and understand the root cause of your pain. We then use a combination of education about your pain, hands-on treatment, targeted exercises, and guidance on posture, movement and load management help you progress. Working towards improvements in function is key to improving your capacity and quality of life. Our goal is to empower you with the tools to manage your condition long-term, maximise your function and get back to living with less pain and limitation.
3. Is clinical pilates suitable for someone with a recent injury?
Yes, absolutely. Unlike general pilates, our Clinical Pilates sessions are supervised by a qualified physiotherapist. We create a customised program that is safe and effective for your specific injury. The exercises are designed to strengthen your core and improve stability and movement control which are crucial for rehabilitation and preventing re-injury.
4. What does a typical session for orthopaedic rehabilitation involve?
A typical orthopaedic rehabilitation session at our clinic focuses on your specific surgical procedure and recovery goals. The session begins with a discussion about your progress and any concerns and talking through your surgeons specific protocol and plan for your recovery. We then use a combination of hands-on therapy to restore joint and tissue mobility, and tailored exercises to regain strength and function. We provide a clear at-home exercise plan, including the use of digital exercise programs for convenience right to your phone!, and adjust it as you progress to ensure a smooth and effective recovery journey.
5. Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist in Adelaide?
